What is going to happen in the year 2012?

I watched to trailer for the movie "2012" and at the end it said "To find the truth- Google: 2012" so I did. I clicked on the Wikipedia link and it said many people predicted on the way the earth and sun and stuff aligned, that in 2012 the world was going to come to an end. Or at-least, a lot of the population is going to be wiped out. They say that the way many things in space are aligned, there could be many natural disasters having devastating affects.
Is this true? And how could we predict or come to think that?
 
Predicitons and all that crap, dont worry nothing is going to happen, maybe a bit of bad weather, a few golds at the olympics, you might run out of milk but thats about it, dont beleive none of these predicitons they just do my head in cause like nobody can predict whats going to happen, that nostradamus guy tried to predict all that crap didnt he but not all of it came true, what about the millenium bug, nuthin.
 
I read that the Mayans predicted something that either the world will end or we will get psychic powers.It's the end of the Mayan calender. Everything else they predicted has come true, they said we would be sitting in rooms staring at boxes meaning sitting in rooms watching TV.
 
Yea i read about that too, don't worry, there's a very small chance of the world ending anytime soon. I bet you didn't read the part which said everything that is going to happen has already happened in the past. The planets have already aligned many times, the earth has been on collision courses with thousands of asteroids some big enough to completely wipe out all life, but were still here right? And Nibiru could be true, or it may be a rumor, you don't want to waste your life worrying about something that MIGHT happen. Doomsayers have predicted the end of the world lots of times in the past, and guess what? they've always been wrong!. :D
 
All sorts of things will happen in 2012. Perhaps most significant is that it will be followed by 2013.

Stop reading end-of-the-world myths and get on with your life.
 
this is bulls**hit there were so many prediction that the world is going to come to and end now tomorrow in this year etc
they even said that the end of the world will come with this project in Geneva...but you know what this is stupid....the scientist don't even know when the world is going to come to an end b/c they don't have any specific information...this is just a theory....and a stupid one
we can't know when the end of the world is coming maybe it will never come maybe it will come tomorrow....we don't know for sure and we will never know for sure
