What is going on!?

Hi I'm a 22 year old male. I eat well and exercise regularly. By all external appearances my health is excellent. I am in good spirits and without anxiety. However, in the last few months, I've been experiencing some odd symptoms.

I lack the frequent desire to eat. On the other hand, at times, I am extremely thirsty, in spite of regular hydration. On some occasions, I go the day without taking food. Come nighttime, I begin to feel hungry and gorge myself on a large meal (800-1000 cal). About 20 minutes later, I feel very "out of it": I am unable to remember important information and lose some faculties. It is unsafe for me to drive a car in this condition because I am not fully aware. I'm physically fine, but mentally brain-dead. My unusual behavior has begun to affect relationships. I am not remembering details or zoning out in conversation. I know what you're thinking, but I haven't been in any contact with zombies. Any information or input is appreciated. Thanks so much!

Hi Joe
You really should not go the day without taking food.
It would be a lot better if you ate balanced meals throughout the day. The big meal you are eating is what is making you feel tired.

Maybe you should go to the doctor and get a test for diabetes, I am not saying that is what you have got btw.

Your brain needs fuel around the clock. When you go a long time without food the brain cannot function properly.

Eating a large meal as you are doing is overload for your body and it simply cannot handle all the carbohydrates, etc. you stuff yourself with in one sitting. You will become lethargic, tired, sleepy, etc. Also will get thirsty because the body is trying to rid itself of all the overload of glucose in your body.

Try eating a normal balanced meal 3 times a day and see if that will help. Do not go longer than 4-5 hrs before eating something and when you do eat healthy, normal portions.

Best to get checked for diabetes, a person can have diabetes 10 years or longer before they have symptoms. During this time damage is being done to your body.
