What is going on with my subs?!?!?

Okay, So I accidently touched the ground wire from my amp to my speaker wires on my subs all lil while ago and they made a poping sound then a low buzzing noise. I thought they were blown because they would squeal when I had the car running and would get higher pitched the faster I went. I thought that meant they were blown but they have been sitting for a couple weeks and I hooked them up recently to see if they worked and they did just fine. My question is are they really okay to hook up again? I don't want to hook them up and have them just blow again later down the line.
 
they should be ok if you blew something its going to happen whether you play them or not the amp prolly jus went into protection and came out when you let the caps inside it discharge
