we have different meaning in different fields for flash,first we have a flash memory which is a hardware that you connect to your pc and transfer data to it or from it,
then we have flash software (flash MX) which was first created by macromedia corp,then adobe bought it all,and it is a software that allows you to make games ,adverts,animation,that are in 2d,(not 3d)
and it is a good way to make things like i said for internet and it doesnt get much size and space on the webpages,
then we have flash for multimedia stuff like phones mp3 players ipods and so on,it is like the main thing in them such as the main thing in computers like windows people call the OS(Operating System)
and you can flash your phone your self it is kinda hard tho you need to have somne skills,
