Electric Ladyland

What can I say? There isn't any other artist whose style appeals to me like Hendrix's and this is his greatest album, an ecstatic blend of blues rock, psychedelia and funk. Incendiary electric guitar as well as some pretty brilliant song writing, in particular Voodoo Chile and A Merman I Should Be. And then there's the ending duo of All Along the Watchtower and Voodoo Child (Slight Return). Just a masterpiece.

MF Doom and Madlib deliver the pinnacle of quirky, intelligent hip hop. Doom's slightly slurred flow couples so well with Madlib's low key beats, pillowy bass and sample heavy production. The swirling accordion on the opening track is just blissful. It's rare that an album can be so sonically diverse and at the same time retain such a sense of stylistic unity. It's too light handed to be called a true concept album, but the theme is there, drawing everything together into a perfect whole.

Return to Cookie Mountain by TV on the Radio

Just an excellent band, I love their sound. Densely produced with an emphasis on distorted guitars and eccentric beats, very original in their arrangements and the chant-esque vocal style tops it all off. Wolf Like Me is one of the most instantly catchy tracks to will ever hear. I can honestly say there isn't a weak track on the entire album, and I'm glad that these guys are growing in popularity, a perfect major label debut.

An album this forum introduced me to and I instantly fell in love. The opening riff is like kick in the face and it doesn't let up. The guitar/saxophone corabo works beautifully throughout, and when vocals come in they are used to great effect.
 
I love that album! Unfortunately after listening to it thousanRAB of time I discovered that I can get burnt out on it, but it's still an amazing album. It's a toss-up between "Mutilated Lips" and "Cold Blows the Wind" for which is my favorite track on the album, though really every song is amazing.
 
With the first two are always on my top. I can listen to them anywhere anytime. And the last two are just what are my favorites right now.

True Democracy is definitely one of the best reggae albums of all time. When you get the chance youtube their song 'Your House' - top drawer stuff man
 
I thought that was a cute song. I suggest "The Wretched Spawn" great album possibly the most disgusting album covers of all time, I don't think the album can top "Torab of the Mutilated" though.
 
I heard 4 other people on here say they liked it too. Not a single person I know in my school has heard of them, and only my bass instructor knew OF them. Love hearing praise for that album, it's so diverse slick. My favorite is probably 'She Wanted To Leave' or 'Buckingham Green'.

I got burnt out on it too, still listen to it often but it's #4 simply because there was a span of a couple months where I would listen to that album 2-4 times repeatedly per day, while eating, homework, or sleeping.

Great stuff though, I think it's one of those album everyone neeRAB to at least give to chance to because it will suck you in.
 
I mean, if you seriously enjoy those, that's great (I personally love Animals) and I totally endorse that. It just seems that people LIKE certain albums just to be part of a social scene. My roommate (and bandmate...gawd) jerk off in my face about Aeroplane, which frankly I think is a load of crap. Whether or not you're trying to assimilate other people's opinions is your business, but those choices make it look as such. So, even if you're not a hipster, it still looks it.

You is my new favorite meraber. Uematsu is a genuinely astounding composer. "Aeris' Theme" may be the prettiest song ever. Shame he had to retire. They actually re-released part of the OST as part of a Reunion/Piano set, and it's simply superb.
