What is difference between BG and ABG wireless network cards?

I have a dell latitude d610 laptop and its wireless network card is Intel (R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG network connection.
I want to fix Intel (R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG network wireless card, because I have heard it is more powerful for catching the wireless signal.

Is it possible to replace? Is there also higher than 3945ABG wireless network cards?
