What is considered good luck in Tamil, Sri Lankan culture?

One of my absolute best friends in the world is taking the MCATS next month. I want to give him a little something for luck before he takes it.
He is originally from Sri Lanka, he is Tamil. Religiously, he is Anglican. I do not know too much about Tamil or Sri Lankan society.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.
