What is causing my car to squeak/whine when I accelerate?

I have an '08 Toyota Matrix and yesterday I noticed that there was a squeaking/whining sound coming from my car when I got to 20mph and it would stop after that and would do it again at 40mph and would stop after I accelerated beyond 40mph. I know nothing about cars so I don't know what the issue is. Could it be weather related? It's been really cold this past week. It only does it when I get to 20mph and then it does it again around 40-45mph. To me it sounds like it's coming from under the car and it's almost like the sound is spinning around. I wish I could describe this better.

It sounds like a belt under the hood needs to be tightened or a bearing in one of the pulleys is going bad.

I 2nd the idea that it's a loose or unadjusted belt. On a car this new, this should be covered by the warranty. Mention it at the next oil change if you want to wait that long, or take it in. It should be a quick 10-minute fix.
