America does not feel like home to me. I have 15 different accents from living in Long Island, and some of my old grandad's Brit accent (Scottish-American born)...
the thing is, Americans are so vulgar. Pompous, indvidualistic, selfish, and gosh, it's like nothing is sacred anymore.
People openly talk on their cell phones about their yeast infetcions and such!
Now, I was raised to "speak properly", not "talk good", and thoguht the family has no money left, there was a good deal of old money that got wasted on medical illnesses a long time unaddressed by doctors, damned Christian Science,
anyway,
I suppose I am a reserved WASP looking for a less vulgar home.
Is Britain better than America?
Is Britain over the "King of the World" hubris?
Because I know the maternity leave is longer, the health care is socialized (right?)
and I really want to be somewhere that I can find some peace and quiet, and discreet folks.
Not everyone is, but overall, is Britain a good choice still?
Yes, I must admit, I am a bit of a snob, that's what I meant about the fact there once was money in the family.
I have that stiff-upper-lip thing to a degree, you see,
I wouldn't have been a punk rocker, is all I mean.
Though the Sex Pistols did rock!
