What is Brian Cashman (Yanks GM) doing?

Joe Girardi tells him that we need improved pitching so what does the moron do. He trades two decent bullpen pitchers for CF Curtis Granderson, he sits back while Boston gets John Lackey and he watches as the Phillies trade for Roy Halladay. Cashman sucks.
I see a big problem with the fact that we only have two reliable starting pitchers. Andy Pettitte will eventually lose his ability to do what he does. We need another great pitcher. We can't go another postseason with just three starting pitchers.
That too. Why resign the aging Johnny Damon when we can guarantee LF for many years and give A-Rod protection by signing Jason Bay or Matt Holliday.
DANA STFU, and please never call yourself a Yankee fan.

really? your an idiot if cashman sucks since number 27 would never have happened if it was for cashman. First off Yankees signed two huge pitchers last year and they are more on the lines of looking for a back end starter rather a big money pitcher like lackey. Second, ian kennedy was un proven, Coke sucks balls if you forgot about the 2 bombs he gave up in the WS and Austin Jackson is still in development, and they get a lefty who has a power swing for the stadium. Now they have more flexibility in talking with damon or etc. Just cuz cashman isn;t spending 200 million on FA this year it doesn;t mean he's isn;t doing anything.

Cashman doesn't do much. Most of the big name agents go to NY because the Boss or his sons go for them. All Cashman does is the little things like prospect signing (poorly), player development (poorly), and sign team staff (Girardi is an idiot).

Just because you little twerps think that the Yankees can just go out and get any player YOU think they need, doesn't mean it's going to happen. Some teams refuse to deal with the Yankees, some don't need what the Yankees offer, and some players will refuse to report to the Yankees. Even King George's money can' get everyone you want.

Learn a little about baseball dealings before you call people names. Cashman built a World Series winner last season, but now he 'sucks' because he couldn't make certain deals. You people are a work of art.

Chasman is trying to play a little smarter here. While yes Lackey would have been a nice addition the years would not have been. Had the Yankees signed Lackey they would in 4 years have two pitchers on the staff that would be pushing late 30's making $20m or so per year. AJ will have broken down by then & so will Lackey. That means the Yankees would have $40m in pitchers that wouldnt be very efective. The Yankees are being smart, next offseason the Yankees will spend ALOT of money again. Cliff Lee, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford, Joe Mauer are all free agents, guess what the Yankees will need next year? A LF (Crawford), A C (Mauer), A SP (Lee/Beckett) the Yankees dont need to blow good money on guys that are going to be good for a year or two & wasnt the money on the back end contract years. If you could get Lee or Becket for an extra $4-6m per year instead of Lackey you would be stupid not to! It looks bad now, but next year everyone will be bitching & complaning about how the Yankees spend way to much money & blah blah blah. The Yankees will go out & sign Sheets &/or Duscherer in the next few weeks, I doubt they would go after Bedard but you never know. The Yankees need at least one starting pitcher on a one year deal, both Sheets & Duscherer need to re-prove themselves after surgery/injury so that is a perfect match. Cashman knows what he is doing, he has been around for quite a few championships!

The Yankees are actually looking to add at least one more starter from outside the organization to a rotation that includes CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, Pettitte, Phil Hughes and Joba Chamberlain. Such a move would allow them to move Hughes and/or Chamberlain to the bullpen.

Rumors are that the general manager is looking at a couple of pitchers coming back from arm surgery: Justin Duchscherer and Ben Sheets.

So, we'll just have to see what they decide to do.

yo got that right if i were him right now what i would do is sign

Starting Picher Best Options:

First Choice-
Get Ardolis Champman
He's asking has just become cheaper

Erik Bedard- 5-3 2.82 ERA in only 15 starts

Ben Sheets (2008 Stats) 13-9 3.09 ERA

Noah Lowry (2007 Stats) 14-8 3.92 ERA

Brett Myers 4-3 4.84 ERA in 10 Starts < Still needs to develop

And dont go after Johnny Damon , he is asking for the same price they should be giving Matt Holiday or Jason Bay

And Relief Pitcher :

Chad Cordero < Great needs to get back on track though and this will help him

ian kennedy was not a decent pitcher and the yanks found phil coke at some mcdonalds or sumn like that. they can both be replaced and considering they received granderson for those two bums, cashman did pretty good

where do u see weaknesses in the yanks roster? i see weakness in the 6,7,8 inning relievers but joba or hughes is gona take the 8th, so all they need is a 6th and 7th inning reliever. dont even trip vato. yanks just won the world series
