What is boot camp like?

I'm a girl & I'm going to be a Rescue Swimmer in the Coast Guard. I know absolutley NOTHING about what boot camp might be like. My guess is that for 8 wks. you wake up early, eat, go running for a few hours, have lunch, do some more pt, then have dinner & go to bed, & then do it all again in the morning? Please explain it to me in detail, I want to know EVERYTHING! How many minutes a day do you have to yourself? What can you bring? If you can't bring anything, is there anyway to sneak things in? I will NOT go to bootcamp w.out my mascara & eyeliner lol. I'll run 5 miles a day & not wash my hair for a week, but I'll be damned if I don't have my makeup. Are there mirrors? & I know girls have to shower together & everything, & I'm fine w. that, but seriously, how much would it cost to install some friggin walls? Anywho, but yes please describe bootcamp to me in detail, I esp. would like a females account of what it's like. Thanksx! xD

I can't speak for the Coast Guard, but I think it would be similar to the Army. If you "sneak" makeup in, they will find out, and you will be punished. Simple as that. The military isn't about being comfortable, it's about completing the mission. There aren't walls in the showers in Basic, at least not in most Army BCT barracks, but you will have to get used to it. At the end of the day, you will be too tired to care, and you won't have enough time to worry about privacy. When I went through BCT and AIT, I lived in a building with 51 other people. There was no such thing as privacy.

Contrary to your statement, you will be doing a LOT more than just PT. PT actually plays a smaller role in the military than you may think. In IET (Initial Entry Training) especially, you will have to learn the basics of military customs and courtesies, drill and ceremony, qualify with several weapons systems, learn first aid, complete various field training exercises, and pass PT tests. You won't run "for a few hours", you'll usually get up, do PT for an hour or so, take a shower, get changed into uniform, then go to training for the morning, have lunch, do more training in the afternoon, have dinner, go back to the barracks to do barracks maintenance, get mail, and get ready for the next day's training events. You won't have time to worry about your makeup in the morning, and if you get caught wearing it, you will regret it shortly after. . .

Again, this is all from my experiences in the Army.

Are you actually serious???????? Mascara and eyeliner to boot camp? Who the hell do you have to impress really! Trust me! No one is there to look pretty because everyone is in the same situation as you. Besides they go through ALL of your stuff and you wont sneak that in AND even if you did and you wore it you would stand out big time and they will make you take it off. If you cant accept yourself for your natural beauty and be confident in your own skin then you have some issues inside of you to deal with. Im not trying to be mean but listen to yourself...really....
