What is Black Culture to you, America?

As I read related questions and people's answers to these questions, it seems to be unclear to many folks. Certain genres of music like Rap and R&B are definitely a part of Black American Culture. If you want to touch on that part of the culture, please elaborate. And I am looking to hear others touch on the many other parts of Black American Culture. What is it to you, America? Do we in America, truly understand what Black Culture is? Is it just....Rap? certain traditions? foods? speech? dress?

Culture:the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc.
2.the behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group: the youth culture; the drug culture.
3.Anthropology. the sum total of ways of living built up by a group of human beings and transmitted from one generation to another.
4.the product or growth resulting from such cultivation.
 
I personally don't have much use for or identification with the city kids and their so-called music. (Rap is not music, it is poetry) But I have been blessed with some association with traditional, mature people of color. Best way for me to sum up all I have to say is that when it has been said that black people have 'soul', I know what that means. I have felt it, sensed it, seen it, and I enjoy it. It is a serious and meaningful asset America has.

But I can't define it. There is a depth there, a well of kindness built of understanding. It originates, I think, in the underground culture of an oppressed minority with a long history of dealing with adversity. But it is more than that. It's like dealing with "old souls". Even those with little education have wisdom. This had to come from the grandmothers who were born in the 1800s. It got passed along.

Under the bling of pop culture is a deep well. America would be wiser if it somehow tapped it.
 
This is practically an essay question, but I appreciate your asking it.

I feel that it's embracing the beginning to the current place of our people.
It means learning about Africa, it's creation, its many cultures, country, it's global effect.
As an African American, it means learning about slavery, and how the dynamics of America changed upon the arrival of African slaves.
It means learning about out transition from an enslaved people to civil rights leaders.
It means learning about the plight of become hard-working people willing to travel all over the country to be success for our families.
It means getting an education so that we can become respected within our communities.

These are not stories I've heard once or twice. Many of us learned about all of this through our entire childhood to adulthood.

Indeed, black culture means music, community, and food. But Black Culture to me is more of a story of growth, change, and empowerment.

some blacks eat fried chicken(supposed ghetto{idk how its just food but anyways})
some eat caviar (rich)
some listen to hiphop
some listen to rock
some travel the world
some sell drugs
some do drugs
some wear color weaves some get highlight
some are family oriented
some are antisocial
some care about school
some care about looks
sounds like every "race" to me
