I am searching for the best phone that will work on cricket (can be flashed) that has a pull out keyboard for texting.

i don't want a pda and won't use its functions, but want a QWERTY keyboard for texting.

Anyone have good advice on this one? :buddies:

MOTO Q is awsome and lots of great tutorials to get everything including EVDO working.

I may be a bit bias but if you have any questions feel free to let me know and I will do my best to answer.

Also pricing is really good if you check ebay.

probably env. they are a little big for my tastes, but if you want a full qwerty keyboard its going to be big. they are pretty cheaply available and you can get just about everything working on cricket.

i've had an env for about a year now, but i'd love a voyager. i don't know how well they work on cricket though, never owned one :(

Is there a tutorial for the ENV anywhere..maybe that is the solution I need for my g/f and her hatred for the Lingo dingo

Try the Alltel version of the LG Scoop. It is the same basic design as the enV except the keyboard slides out laterally (along the side) rather than opening like a clamshell like the enV.

Theoretically it should be able to get Cricket MMS and WAP with the Alltel firmware.

the scoop is slightly smaller but here are the advantages the env has:

EVDO - Scoop is only 1x
Bigger Higher resolution (QVGA) main display- although the external on the env is a little small.
2mp camera - scoop is only 1
Stereo Bluetooth - scoop does not support a2dp
stereo speakers on env

considering how cheaply an env can be gotten now, i don't think the scoop is a really serious competitor when you look at the feature set. but if you prefer the sliding form factor it may be right for you. =)
