What is Bell offering existing customers?

Hi,

I'm been with ExpressVu for a long time and will be buying an HDTV by Christmas. Their web site offers the 9242 for $599 and $155 of credits for new customers. Gotta love it when they treat strangers better than loyal clients. The web site says I've got to call to see what offers are available to existing customers.

What can I expect?

My dish already has the two connections used up. I need to buy an SW44 from a third party to add two new connections to the 9242, it that correct? Or do I need a kit from Bell to get HD channels from a second satellite or something unusual like that?

As an existing Customer with only Nimiq 1 reception you will get free installation of the 9242 regardless of your choice of renting or buying the receiver.

The installation will also provide the second LNBF, the SW44 and 2 more lines into your house to feed the 9242, then you can also have the Tuner #2 output fed to another TV within the house as well, all is included with the Free Professional Installation.

If, however you ask the Technician to relocate either of your existing receivers, you will be charged $50 per relocation.......

I will leave it to others to say what you can expect financially from Express Vu.
 
A dealer on another forum posted this (valid for December only). I can't confirm it though, call Bell and ask.

All that would be great. Would I be getting the receiver from Bell, or buying it from a retailer at $599 and then getting Bell credits?

If you do buy a 9242 from a Retailer, ensure you get the 9242S, not the 9242R, the "S" deignation means it comes with new Dish, LNBF, SW44 et al.
 
I think this is why they changed the advertising from "Making it easy".....lol
 
Thanks. I just popped into my local Bell store. He didn't have any record of a promotion of the 9242 at $499 and $60 credits for existing customers. It's funny that Bell isn't open with their promos.

He suggested that I buy the 9242 for $599 (comes with the dish upgrade kit to add another LNB thingie to the dish), run the two extra wires from the dish into the house myself, and then I can enable it with Bell and keep my existing programming without the extra $10 a month for HD. He says all the channels that I currently will also be available to me in HD if they exists in HD. So more money up front and less in subscription fees.

Does this make sense? Seems like a lot of work (plus about 100 feet in RG6 to buy as well).
 
I wanted to upgrade to HD and I was offered a deal for 1 year free 9242 rental and 6 months free HD. No strings attached according to the CSR. After 1 year I can continue renting it or return it. I thought it would be a 2 year contract but he said no , just one year. Anybody else heard of this or is there some fine print I am missing ?
 
Bell online rental vrs buy states rental is a two year contract.

I do think he is right.

You will not get HD without paying the HD $10, that is my understanding.

You will be entitled to a FREE installation, if you subscribe to the $10 HD package, so I guess the call is yours. Unless you have ever aimed a Dish at 2 satellites before, it can be quite tricky, as you can verify by reading some of the posts on this Forum, I would get Express Vu to install the 9242 for you, for FREE.

I would call Express Vu about the point he made, re, because I believe he is wrong.
 
so the $10 programming pack wise. They dont have any deals on that?
I removed my HD extra pack about 2 or 3 months ago when they started to compress their feeds to VHS like quality lol. I now read that all 32 tp's are up and running on 82W and the channels look better, and since im spending a lot of time indoors now that winters here.. I was thinking i might possibly add the HD pack again. Problem is im already at 90 bucks a month. So does anyone think/know if they have any sort of deals or is it the "take it or leave it" sorta thing?
 
If you are talking thingies you need a pro install. I think It will cost you about $540 Tax and discounts in for the PVRHD receiver and $ 10 a month for programing.
 
If you are not a new rental HD suscriber you won't have a choice but to "suck up your pill" and pay the 10$/month for the HD channels...

You can always call and threathen to disconnect saying it becomes too expensive, they will offer you a sweet deal depending on how long you've been with them, your credit record, the amount you pay monthly...
 
I really don't think how long you've been a subscriber and how perfect yoru payment history is with them. Bell doesn't care about their existing customers. All they care about is signing up new customers.

I haven't been on contract with ExpressVu for over 2 years and I had such a huge hassle just to get a 9242 all because I live in an MDU. I did get it but I had to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau just to get one. If Bell doesn't start treating me like a residential customer (making me eligible to residental customer promotions), I'm just going to dump them and move over to Rogers. The sad part is, I do like the service. I'm just not happy with the way I'm treated as a customer.
 
Yeah, but that's only because of lack of information from Bell, and sometimes contradicting information. (last year, the Bell store guy said I didn't need to touch the dish and the two wires and I could use a splitter, presumably a SW44, inside the house; this contradicts what I was told today.)

The guy was certain about not having to pay the $10 extra for HD. He said he was still paying $41 a month from programming years ago, and HD was working fine.

Strange that there is no clear-cut and easy-to-get info from the Bell web site.
 
Call to cancel your service and speak to a retention agent. I recently received $200 off the HD PVR in addition to negotiating an extra $25 that I would receive if ordering online. So they've committed to giving me $225 back on my bill in addition to 6 months of free HD and free install (which she said all new HD customers are eligible for)

After selling my existing receivers for $320, that is not such a bad deal for me.

I'm really enjoying the HD PVR.
