Like what might happen, and what could happen now that they lost so much money. How will it affect the world? Or does it matter?

truth is we would be better off not selling any foreign cars here our country when down hill when they did.. you can look up hopw many ford or chevy are sold in japan and what the price is there wil shock you

Toyotas are made in US also; these are US plants going on extended shutdowns and offering buyouts. These are American jobs, not Japs. Anyone against Toyota needs to wake up and smell the coffee, they're here to show the Bankrupt3 how to do things. You don't see them asking for 900 billion in bailout money, do you? The bankrupt 3 are all corrupt (look at the bonuses they paid out with their "save us" money, then throw the UAW into the mix, and wonder why the hell no one has any money left.

To tell you the truth, I just have to laugh at the Senator from Alabama (I think he is the Senator), who at the hearings on the troubles of US car makers made the statements about how GM, Chrysler and Ford needed to be more like Toyota.
Well GM, Ford and Chrysler lost a few dollars themselves. But Toyota went from making over a trillion dollars profit last year to loosing 5 billion in one year. That is one heck of a drop in profit.
So maybe Toyota is not that lean on its manufacturing either. Honda is in trouble, and so is Nissan. Mazda is slipping but holding out well.
The fact is that there are too many car makers and not enough customers. So some body has to go out of business. I hope to see GM, Toyota and Mitsubishi close their doors. They have lied to the consumers long enough!
