What is an internal flash memory?

I'm planning to purchase Nokia N96.

Going throw technical specifications i found out that this mobile has

Memory Functions*

16GB internal flash memory, plus micro SD memory card slot (hot swappable) for expandability and flexibility

Approximate dynamic memory capacity indication with 16GB storage:
- Video: 40 hours**
- Music: 12,000 tracks***

Is internal flash memory stands for internal memory of the cell phone (memory inside the phone)?
 
yes, just like a jump drive, it is flash memory up to 16 GB which is quite a bit. the micro SD card slot means you can expand it at most by double (16GB most new phones work with) the numbers of songs and etc, is for the average song and video, etc.

16GB internal is really good, there might be copying files problems mostly being slow but that is the worse and only one really.


i lied, flash has a life spam (like how many times files can come on and off it, but the number is really high, about 2 to 3 years at least)
