In metaphysical poetry, a conceit was a comparison of two completely dissimilar things -- like a flea and love-- but one that the author turned into something incredible. A conceit also stretched the line between what was considered acceptable and not and either shocked or surprised the reader.

What topic in today's culture would be an example of a conceit?
