What is an example of a "dead-end" job?

I heard it commercials from Everest College, and the Bryman School in Phoenix, and they have me thinking a lot!
 
Its a job that you hate but its the only one you can get like lets say your 26 years old and you work at McDonald's flippin' burgers thats a dead end job. (unless you really like it)
or at Wal-Mart. Just something you really don't want to do but there is no other form of income. With College you get to pick a career you really enjoy. Like me I am an Engineer for Rockwell Collins and I am still up because I get tomorrow off but still get paid (wooohooooo) College sure does pay off
 
An example of a dead-end job is working as a cashier at your local grocery store at 46.
 
It could be any job that has no future. Like a job that maxes out at $8.00 an hour. Also it could be any job which one cannot acieve their full potential in doing.
