What is a really good book to read?

I don't want any vampire-type stuff (e.g. Twilight, Vampire Academy, etc.) and nothing too girly either.

I like adventure, mystery, (some) classics and action stories. Also, the thicker the book, the more I want to read it :)

Any suggestions?
