What is a quick, safe, reliable starting sport bike?

I'm currently 18 years old and my parents are letting me choose a sport bike to buy, but I have no experience riding sport bikes though I have ridden scooters and mopeds. I've already decided that I will not be an idiot and buy a 1000cc busa that'll get me killed in second so i'm wondering what would be a good choice. I want performance cause why else would I buy a sportbike, but I don't need it to be the fastest thing on the road.

I stand about 5'11 and am pretty heavyset; I weigh a good 200lbs so I dont want a bike too small. Right now, i'm looking at the suzuki gsx500f, the ninja 500r, ninja 650r, yamaha YZF, and a CBR600RR. Any suggestions? Thanks!
 
Well, not the Yamaha or Honda, that's for sure. 120hp is way too much for a beginner, I don't care what the guy above me says. Out of your list I'd go for the Suzuki. Check the links below to find out why.
 
well im 20 6'0'' and about 160, my first bike i just got a few weeks ago is a honda cbr 600 f3, i love it, its not lightweight and real fast, not to mention fun as hell.
