An EF is a chassis code for a civic that is 91 and older. People just use these codes to relate to that specific car instead of saying the year. For example my Civic is a 94, but the chassis code from 92-95 Civic coupe is EJ1. The civic from 96-98 is referred to as an EK. These really have nothing to due with the SI, DX, LX or anything about the model that it is just what chassis it is.
