What is a great Nonfiction American-History book to read?????

Im a college student and I need a good Nonfiction American-History book to read. The book has to be between the years of 1492-1865. I would like the book to be short because I don't have enough time to Read a Huge book. I would also like it to entertaining not boring. Thanks.
