What is a good website for finding out state laws?

My son's sperm donor (basically) is wanting joint custody now 5yrs later and a friend of mine said I could use abandonment against him where can I find this info at? Do not bash me saying oh that is his dad. No his real dad is the man who has helped me raise him for past five years and who is over the moon for him and the same for my son!
 
Lawyer & family court, & yes I agree the guy that's been with you raising yr son is his "DAD" in the real sense. Don't let the 'donor' try & muscle in it will only cause yr son much confusion.
 
Was the sperm donor known to you? did you sign a contract concerning support ; that by donating, he gives up his rights to being the father?

or was this child conceived together, and you ended up splitting up? And he never relinquished his paternal rights to the child?

If its the latter, then you have no recourse; he has as much rights to be a parent to the child as you do, since you both never formally terminated parental rights to the "sperm donor".
