What Is a good subject for a poem?

Well, I always end up writing about waves in the ocean. I want something different to write about. I am going to enter a contest at my school this year and I want to have a strong subject to go on. Is there anything that I could Try?

Also If this helps I am in Middle School. Maybe like something related to that? I don't know It doesn't have to be about school. If you have other Ideals please comment also.

what about the ignorance of the world, u know on hunger,
what about nature
ur life,
ur fantasy,
dreams and hopes
wat about u being in another person's shoe, like writing from different perspective.......
