What is a good starter tank and fish?

5 gallon tank.You could put a betta in it.You could get a bowl they are very easy to take care of and very pretty all you have to do is feed
twice a day and clean the water.Feed 5-6 pellets twice a day.Use flakes with it.
 
try wikipedia they will tell you all you need to know from size of tank to filtration to how hard it is to look after certain types of fish, that way you will have all your own knowledge and as the old saying goes knowledge is a powerful thing i.e. you can have what you wont not what everyone else is telling you to get and the best thing is it would have been your choice
 
I want to start keeping fish but I know almost nothing, is there a particular fish or tank that is very easy to take care of? I heard that goldfish are a really bad idea and I want to know what I should pick.
