Let me start from the beginning. I plugged in my PA in the wrong spot on my PA into the mic jack of my computer and blew the factory sound. Hoping I didn't screw more than just the sound up I bought a SIIG SoundWave 5.1 PCI. Playback sounds fine on cd's and dvd's, but anytime I record, then listen to it back, it sounds terrible, like its coming through multiple filters. I've tried all kinds of different settings. Would a higher end sound card be my solution, or could it be something more, like processor speed? I have an intel pentium D 320GHz processor.
What is a good soundcard for recording guitars/midi?
