What is a good song for the death of military friends?

I was born & raised around the Marine Corps & 99% of my friends are all Marines. Sadly, many of them have been killed in action. I would like to get a large back piece tattoo of musical lyrics or a long quote involving death & remembrance of people that we love. I don't want it to be directed too much towards the military, as it's a very personal tattoo & I don't want everyone looking at my back & being able to know right off the bat what has happened in my life. If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated. I would REALLY love it to be musical lyrics from a hard rock or heavy metal song.

As far as I know it has to do with Jerry Cantrell's father or something along the lines and his fighting in war.

Rooster by Alice In Chains is PERFECT for your situation. It's about watching a good friend dying in war. As far as I know, it's a true story that actually happened to Layne Staley. However, not every line is immediately referencing war, but simply a man watching someone die. If people see it on your back, they most likely wouldn't know what happened to you.
