Well i'm not sure of the essays you're alluding to so I can't really suggest anything about them specifically. However, for a presentation on this topic in general I would totally find some way to work in David Letterman's 'Art or Ape?' segment. If you're not familiar, each time he runs the segment he shows an abstract painting, and people have to guess whether it was made by an ape or a real artist. Most of the time people guess it's by an artist, and it usually just ends up being the result of a gorilla slopping paint onto a canvas. It's really just for laughs, but it raises interesting issues. Similar issues are explored in a documentary with a title something like, 'My Kid Could Paint That'--might be worth watching.
