my father can not work his cell phone. it's not a complicated phone, but he still can't understand it. now to put exactly how technologically impaired he is into perspective, i regularly have to explain to him how to work a microwave. he has no idea how to work the answering machine on the home phone, and we've completely banned him from using the computer because every time he gets on it for five minutes, it takes us at least an hour to either explain how to do something to him or fix what he screwed up. we all suspect he is borderline mentally-deficient. so we need to get him a phone with AS FEW BUTTONS AS POSSIBLE. no menus to navigate, no camera, large, clearly labeled buttons, and if we can get something so simplistic you can't even change the ringtone, that would be great.
what we need:
the ability to make phone calls
the ability to turn the ringer on and off
verizon network (the rest of us are perfectly happy with our phones, but taking him off the plan would fuck us up a bit)
what we don't need:
camera
any buttons that aren't a volume up/down, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0,*,#, send/hang up
bluetooth
touchscreen
full qwerty keyboard
we don't even really need the ability to text from this phone.
we don't care how it looks, what brand it is, etc. none of that matters whatsoever.
