What is a good, original and attention-grabbing way to start a debate? Other than " hello everyone, my name is Katie and i will be your first speaker for todays debate...:" etc.
and
what is a good way to end a debate.
(we are debating- cars are a luxury but we cannot live without them. affermative)

Ask some questions (not for people to answer) an get people to start thinking eg. When was the last time you walked somewhere without using a car?
Good Luck!

HOW TO END THE DEBATE -

I believe the debate is now over. Your side has fallen at first scrutiny.

Imagine Mr Gates, Mr Cruise, Mr Brown or Mrs Rowling always cycling to do shopping or attending a conference in the crowded capital......

Start the first few statements with eye-catching words, phrases or events.. Or a striking quotation by some great leader or celebrity. Can be something true or comical but not done in any insulting manner. End your debate by rounding up your points and asking them a critical question with relation to your opening remarks:: So I ask you, should you one day taste sweet success and luxury like so and so, would you make your way to the party on a two-wheeler or a ..........?

"hey, allowe me to tell u that u're stupid!"..it will sure frustrate them 8]

Something like "Do you like to walk?" Could you live without your car? How important is your car to your way of life?

End it by wrapping up your point of view.
