What is a good gift for an older man who loves the outdoors?

What can I get my grandpa for Christmas? He used to like to hunt when he was younger but now he has trouble getting out of the house. He still likes to read outdoor magazines but he has plenty subscriptions already.

On warmer days he tries to get out of the house and it does him a lot of good. It just seems to be harder for him. Do you have any ideas for a older man (he's 84) who likes the outdoors but has trouble walking. I am on a very tight budget.

Oh yeah we live in the north if that helps any.

Don't know what his property is like but how about a porch-type swing or glider outside in a spot with a nice view. I have seen them online for less than 80 bucks. If you're handy you could even make one.

Another cheaper idea is a couple of birdhouses. Put them up near his living room windows and maybe buy some inexpensive binoculars and a bird identification book. Gives him a little nature experience without having to leave the house.

If your budget is really small, the gift of your time is the best thing you can give to a grandparent.. Make a gift certificate promising an outing to a scenic spot -- a nice drive and lunch together someplace he used to like to go, or someplace he's never seen.

That ugly kid (Butch) has a great idea about the hunting stool. But the thing that will fill his heart with joy and happiness is the fact that he has a grand daughter that is thinking about him this Christmas.I bet he is extremely proud of you.Good for you, girl! My hat's off to you.Merry Christmas!
