I need to pick an object that is a good example of pop culture and american consumerism. I have to use argumentation, interpretation, rhetorical analysis, rudimentary logic, and semiotic analysis to write an interpretive essay about a pop culure object. A main part or the essay is to discuss several aspects of the advertising. I need to address the logic and reason, ie. facts, stats, claims, and proof etc. (logos). Ethics and morality ie. credibility, authority, trust, endorsement etc. (Ethos) And emotion (pathos) What type of person buys the product or what the product says about that type of person that buys it is also one of the main parts of the paper if not the biggest. The theme I'm going for is a persuasive feel about how people buy things that they don't need to display wealth, or look cool type of thing. Any help or object ideas are greatly appreciated.
