What is a good dog in my environment?

What breed would be best outside in Arizona? The dog house would be underneath the armada were there would be plenty of shade. Dog food would be put next to the dog house as well as the water bowl. The water bowl water would be changed every day. Arizona isn't as hot as you think!

The dog would stay outside from 8;30am to 3;30pm then would be let inside the house to play. And wouldn't be tied to a tree it would just be let lose in our backyard.

Another question is in Arizona how should you cool off a dog in summer with what type of device?

Of course taking a walk would be needed and it would be done twice or three times a week. And would have lots of exercise. Want a dog with a good health record and not get sick often! or not shed often! Easy to groom and easy to maintain.

Dogs once lived outside too and weren't always owned by people so don't be saying that NO DOG IS GOOD IN ARIZONA OUTSIDE because dogs used to live outside like cousins of the wolfs in ARIZONA!

If you are rescuing, then ask the staff at the local humane society what they recommend. Or, the breeder as the case may be. Both will have a better understanding of the individual dogs under their care.

Dogs are very far removed from their wolf relatives. They actually need to be inside with their people, since their people are their pack. Coyotes and wolves might live outside, but they're wild animals that live in groups. Keeping a dog outside all of the time would be confusing to him and he'd end up being very poorly socialized.

That said, most wild animals in Arizona are active at night, which means your dog would probably need to be inside during the day where there would be plenty of cool air.

What's your living situation like? Job, kids, family? Are you active, do you like to jog or hike?

If you only want to walk the dog a few times a week, you probably need a breed with very low activity levels.
