what is a good brand/bike for me?

I am a boy I bike to school every day which is about 1.5 miles I am 5 feet 2 inches (still growing) and I do go on wood trails with roots and small jumps. The most that I would probably spend would be 400$. I am looking for a bike that is also lightweight, fast, and is really cool or green
 
You can find a great brand of bike in the $400 range if you buy used. Get a Cannondale or Specialized mountain bike if you spend a lot of time on the trails or a Hybrid if you spend equal time on road and trails. Go to Craigs list in your area and you will find lots of bargains on bikes. Save about $45 for a good tune up at your local bike shop once you buy the bike. If you buy a Cannondale or Specialized mountain bike it will hold its value well. If you decide you want something else, you will be able to sell it and make a good portion of your money back. Get something that is comfortable, but also something you can grow into, so you can keep it a while.
