I am extremely novice at cooking and often when I try to cook recipes I can't even recognize most of the terminology used.
Whenever I cook with someone I find they always know tricks of the trade like how to cut an onion the best way and how best to de-vein shrimp, etc. etc.
I would like to find a book that can help train me from square one with simple recipes and tips, moving onto more advanced recipes later on. I would also like said book (or books) to include tips on buying fresh ingredients and how to pick out the best meats/vegetables/etc. in grocery stores or farmers markets.
Can anyone help recommend such a book? Thank you in advance.
