What is a gm unit equivalent to?

I"m studying for a nursing entrance exam and I came across this unit. It was asking to convert units of mg to gm...i've done a lil searching and i found that gm is grams written incorrectly, at best. The test later goes on to use the g unit, this gave me doubt, and then goes back to asking fo gm units again....
 
I would agree that a gm unit is a gram, especially since you are asked to convert to a gm unit from milligrams.
