I am in my first year of college, and am wondering what I should major in. I know everyone says to major in what you like, but let's get realistic - we're in tough economic times, and I want to have a career that will surely provide financial stability.

By financial stability, I mean having money to pay all of my bills, and extra money for leisure. What is a career that fits my "criteria"? I plan on going to graduate school for my Master's Degree (if that helps in suggesting a career).

Thanks.

Dude, think of people like Bill Gate and Steve Jobs, what do they do, think they have any problems paying there bills or buying super nice stuff!!!!

I'm going to college for computers and software!

well nursing has always been in demand, but that job is so stressful and they often burnout...

umm..

business management
accounting
finance
teaching

international affairs
history
politcal science <attorney>

anything with business

I'm all about job security right now, so I'm getting into Nursing. They make great starting pay, you get all the hours you want, and many hospitals provide financial assistance for further schooling. I hope to be a nurse practitioner one day.. They make baaaaank.

Have a look at the professions which are in high demand in your country. There are skill shortages which is sure to provide stability.
