I am a high school junior looking to apply to highly selective universities in the fall of next year. I would like to pursue a career in medicine, engineering or business, however, my main focus is on medicine and engineering. As of now I have taken the following classes and APs related to these career paths:
Biology (made a 750 on the SAT II), Physics (honors), Chemistry (AP - made a 4), Algebra II honors (780 on the SAT II for Math II), Geometry honors and AP Calculus AB. Next year I plan on taking AP Calc BC and one of two science courses: AP Biology or Honors Organic Chemistry. I would love to take both, but there are not enough hours in my schedule. Which of these courses would be better for a student considering pre-med? Should I take the AP course because it is AP (and because my grade in biology freshman year is the lowest on my report card (87) and I can redeem myself) or should I take Orgo because I can get a leg up on a class that many college programs use to weed people out? Thanks in advance for any input on this topic!
