What impact do you think the GLOBAL recession will have on American culture?

Do you see this event as a "temporary setback" resulting in no significant changes, or as a "paradigm shift" in the way Americans relate to the rest of the world that will result in a dramatic lowering of the American standard of living, or is it something else in between the two? Is a cultural revolution underway (much as in the 60s' "Make love not War" ideal), or is it back to "business as usual" once these inconveniences fade away? Will it lead to widespread anarchy, or will most people simply sit back and watch? What basis do you have for your reasoning?

Question is open to all opinions... I'm just curious about attitudes.

Life is cyclical. I think Americans are not nearly as weary of war as we were in the 60's, we've got two raging, and the commander is still fairly popular.

I think that we might find Afghanistan to be an unwinnable war. It may very well be the downfall of Obama.

My guess is as good as yours though, I've got no idea, it seems as though we're at a new place. Pardon my poor analysis, whiskey does that to me.
