What if the capacitor is too far from the amp?

The question is pretty self explanatory. I'm making a custom sub enclosure. To even things out so everything wont be one side of my trunk, I am planning on putting the amp and capacitor or opposite corners of my trunk. I heard/know that the capacitor should not be too far from the amp, but how far is "too far"? The cap I got came with 3ft. of positive and negative wiring (6ft. total), would it be safe to use all of it?
