What if someone attempted to live the life of an "Old West Outlaw" in Modern Day Mexico?

With its easily bribed police, Period built buildings, lack of organized society, poor defenseless citizens, and weak government Mexico in some ways still symbolizes the very image of the old west. With a Colt SAA, a Winchester Model 1887, an 1866 Winchester Golden Boy/1873 Winchester, Coach Gun, and a fast riding horse couldn't you indeed live that life and live it well by robbing from the people and banks?
Roads don't mean shit when you're on a horse.

Short Answer.....Not very likely

FIRST You would have to be Mexican..... and build yourself a following.....Mexican drug lords can not survive in modern Mexico....even when they use their drug money to bribe the people..... add to the situation that you are "robbing" Mexican banks..... stealing the money of the people you need to protect you from the Mexican police and Federales.... your survival will probably be short lived. They generally do not like "Gringos" down there anyway

SECOND Before you plan this life of adventure and outlawry.... Visit Hermesillio..... about 150 miles due south of Nogales Arizona..... on the east side of town near the reservoir is the Mexican Federal prison.... try to get there on a Saturday .... take a look around..... this is not an American prison..... this is a Mexican prison.... no frills.....they do not even have a mess hall because they do not feed you..... you have to arrange for your own food.... medical facilities are a joke and there is no "recreation center"....or TV room..... You heard jokes about Bubba being your boyfriend..... down there it is Carlos and instead of a sore butt.... you will probably end up dead..... Did I mention they do not like Gringo's down there

FINALLY You think because you have a horse and a couple of guns you can bring back Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid..... this is THEIR land.... they know every cactus and pebble.... they have helicopters..... and thousands of troops who would love to take a break from the bloody border wars and hunt down some smartasss who thinks he can play Poncho Villa

(BTW Poncho Villa was a NATIONAL HERO......and look what they did to him..... if you do not know.....they made the ambush of Bonnie and Clyde look like a picnic..... a water cooled 50 cal..... what was left would not have made good dog food)

If you didnt get killed by the police or locals you would most likely be kidnapped and held for ransom.

STOP PLAYING RED DEAD REDEMPTION!!

Than you have never lived in Mexico
A while back a bank was robbed in central Mexico all the three roads were blocked leading out of town The military was called in to go door to door within three hours all four bank robbers were dead. In the little town next to it a child molester was captured by the local citizens They beat him to death
