Zzzzzzzz, old man. Just go away. Classic rocker Peter Gabriel is also angry, and he would not like the thank the Academy. Specifically, the onetime Genesis frontman, in protest, just bowed out of the scheduled performance of his nominated Wall-E theme "Down To Earth" at this weekend's Oscar telecast. Apparently he was irate that all the Best Song nominees will be presented Sunday in a medley, and that his portion of that medley would only last a mere 65 seconds. "The songwriters are a very small part of the filmmaking process, but we still work bloody hard," he griped. "It's not going to do me any harm to make a protest [by boycotting the Oscars]."

I guess Peter thinks he is above everyone else. He may have failed to realize that this years show is on a budget. I don't see what the big deal is & I really don't care. It's a nice song though.

Hey, give Peter Gabriel a break. I agree with him by having the songs being put into a medley instead of having the three nominations being sung one at time. He's a really great musician, and he deserves to represents the film Wall-E and the songwriters who wrote "Down to Earth" in a better way than just being there for 65 seconds. Gabriel should be allowed to sing the whole song, for crying out loud!Give the man some slack, will ya????

Per folowing AFP article, he's only declining to perform, not boycott Oscars as you've stated.http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5gNnRAOfgiacQf0glnsv2OvLsRccg"Gabriel said he still intends to attend the Oscars, which take place at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood on February 22. "The ceremony should be fun and I'm looking forward to it," he said."Doesn't sound like much of a hissy fit to me.
