What if our tax rate were a reflection of our expenditure? Spend more, you

get taxed more? For instance, if it cost the government 900 billion dollars for a certain projects, then tax rates would be raised to recoup that amount. Then if the next year the government spent 700 billion, the taxes would all lower.

Does that make sense?

I think a plan like that would backfire because of the lack of consistency in the plan. For example, the first might tax 1% of my income one year and 99% the next year. I can't plan ahead with that kind of ambiguity

No, because government spending has no basis in reality, no respect for a budget, and no restraint.

It does make sense to have a fair tax : A tax rate applied to every transaction, no complex tax code, no loopholes, no deductions, no tax filing, no tax avoidance.

Problem there is the govt would just spend knowing they could rais texes to recoup it.

The givt cant live with in its menas now what makes you think this law would help that

How about you can't spend money till you have it

Agreed . basically it does " make sense " . The trouble now is the rich write the tax LOOPHOLES for the rich ... They take away over a trillion dollars a year . Our current deficit is 1.6 trillion . Close the loopholes and cut the other 600 billion from waste and the military ...
