He's getting really big, he's just a regular old 15 cent goldfish, and he is a greedy eater! But he likes to put gravel in his mouth and spit it out, what if he were to swallow it? Would he die?
Most likely he will not swallow it because he will differentiate food with pebbles, however he may swallow some of the little tiny ones. If this is the case, it will just pass thru him, no problem.
