What if: Harry Potter had its own animated series?

Never heard of that show. I've seen Avatar: the Last AIRBENDER, though. ;):D:p

Also, just so we're clear, this isn't happening. There are currently no plans to produce a Harry Potter animated series. This is just hypothetical.

I'd rather see a Hogwarts animated series than any further non-canon adventures with Harry and the gang, seeing as they ultimately won't mean squat to continuity. They'd also have to be set either way before or way after the timeline of the novel series. Unlike Star Wars where the scope of the saga was at times bigger than its core heroes, the Harry Potter universe strictly revolves around Harry Potter. If Harry Potter doesn't do it, it doesn't mean anything. So you can't have a lesser hero running around the same time as Harry saving people offscreen.

I guess it could take place after Harry defeats Voldemort (I assume he will) and be a wave of new students arrive in Hogwarts.. and it could focus on one of the new kids and his friends as he goes about learning magic. There could maybe be some cameos from the other characters from the main book series.

But what if it aired with a TVPG on Toonami and was done by the director of Fullmetal Alchemist? Then it might actually be worth watching.

But why would it be? If they could get it into a fairly lenient channel or whatever the issue is, I don't see what's stopping them from doing it closer than the movies.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Harry Potter animated series. It could cover some of the comic events that don't take place in each movie. I would love seeing Peeves, and I an only imagine how it'd be having Harry sneak around Hogwarts with Snape in pursuit, uch like he is on the video games.

With that being said though, unless they did events that take place that aren't in the movies, then no, I wouldn't want a seperate story. I've always thought Harry would work better as an animated series than the movies though.

Like Super Milk-chan and Doraemon? ;)

There's not really much in HP that isn't kid suitable... after all, kids read the books. Toonami would do fine, or Nickelodeon, or even 4Kids TV if they went by TMNT2003's standards.

Look at what Warner Bros. have done to all of their animated series franchises. In order to keep Harry Potter in a cartoon they'd have to cut a lot of what makes the films and books so great. Also keep in mind that the length of time it takes to tell a Harry Potter story is well over an hour. I don't know if it could be done as an on-going show.

I do think they should attempt some animated movies though.

I doubt it would happen just because JK Rowling is trying to kept her characters from getting over used.

If it did happen, I'd give it a try although I feel like it has the power to go down hill very quickly.

Plus, on top of that, Warner Bros. doesn't have enough money to produce another animated tv show.

A TV series, if they have a cliffhanger at the end of every episode, could actually contain more hours of material than the movies could ever dream of and be the most faithful adaptation of Rowling's work yet.

But that's more the fault of the manga-ka's style than anything else. Once the story starts diverging from the manga halfway through, it becomes the director's 110%-suspense-with-some-extra-character-development style, that would suit Harry Potter very well, and the chibi stuff goes away for the most part.
