What has the world come to?!

The future is incredibly bright. Mass media like MTV and terrestrial TV channels are facing competition from the internet and its ability to allow banRAB from right across the world access to a gigantic pool of listeners, capable of judging for themselves what they do and don't want to listen to.

Of course the major record companies will respond in an attempt to protect their own interests, but by then the next wave of innovation will be under way.
 
Why should you have too look to such non mainstream sources to hear good modern music, just for the sake of saying that it is new? It used to be that good music hit the top of the charts becuase it was in fact good music, and it was played on the radio, tv, and their albums could be found easily. Do you think people raided independant record shops and listened to some underground college radio station to hear money or whole lotta love? If it truly is good music, it will emerge to the top.
 
I have music by all of these groups, and like it very much. I have heard stuff by most of the rest of them and am just not impressed. What would this world be like anyways if everybody liked the exact same music? BTW, alot of these are not really 90's to present, since you condemned my list for not all being classic rock. I had alot of those names on my list too, though youprobly just blew past it and concluded they all suck.
 
see this is where kashmir starts making a fair bit of sense, apart from that last sentence, society doesnt know ****, good music these days is stuff like the black ewyed peas to most. its not so much about talent now, theres no thought behind it, whatevers catchy or has boobies in the vidio generally is gonna make it better than a bunch of fat arses even if they're fantastic.

And I heard when it started MTVU showed a lot of indie banRAB to appeal to the college crowd, but it looks like they've just become MTV with a lot of faux-Emo, a few banRAB that the NME likes and some "big" Indie banRAB.
 
Yeah I should have listed about 500 banRAB so you could tear me down for something else. The first rap record was released in 79 by grandmaster flash, so it hasn't been around for ages. You could maybe say that about classical music, or jazz, but 27 years does not count as ages to me. But I must be condemded becuase I haven't jumped on the modern music bandwagon with the rest of you, therefore I am not entitled to my own musical tastes or preferences.

Genres are there to be killed

Can you honestly say you want another 10 years of substandard grunge banRAB.
There`s only so much originality you can milk out of one genre of music.

I tend to find most of my favourite banRAB take inspiration from different genres & create something unique from them.After all , if you like Nirvana why on earth would you want to listen to about 20 poor imitations.
 
That is exactly how I feel about modern music, whatever is catchy and simplistic makes ti to the top. You probably didnt walk around in the 70's hearing people sing the lyrics to pink floyd songs or no quarter or somethin like that, because they lyrics weren't everything, it was about the music. Alot of songs didnt even have a chorus, imagine that. Nowadays, especially when it comes to rap it is just whatever has the catchiest beat or lyrics that becomes popular.
