What happens with insurance investigations?

I was in a car accident earlier this month and our insurance company is still undergoing investigations. I was sitting still waiting to make a left hand turn when a man who was coming straight through the intersection swerved and hit me pretty much head on.. the damage was mainly done to the drives side (front) of both cars. his claim is that i pulled out in front of him, which i didnt. and we have proof of that through a witness and also the damages on the car. if i would have turn left in front of him, he would have tboned me or atleast hit me on the passeger side, not the drivers side. Our insurance company has already concluded their investigation, saying that it wasn't my fault, and that the witness statement and the damage on the vehicles proved it. But, the man who hit me also has a witness who says i turned left in front of him ( this witness is also a family friend of his ) Does anyone know about insurance investigations and how they go? If I and my witness are saying one thing, and the man who hit me and his witness are saying the exact oppisite, what is going to happen?
