My ex has been avoiding child support for almost two years now (since my daughter was born),last month I was notified by my case worker that the state had started a garnishment on him..knowing what a lazy low life loser he is i'm pretty sure he doesn't have a job?so if he never gets a job does my daughter never get her $$?will he eventually go to jail?
no i don't think all men are low lifes i said he is..because i know him he doesn't want to get a job..i'm asking if he'll eventually go to jail because that would be the only thing to motivate him to get a job or pay his child support somehow...he physically abused me thats why he isn't in my daughters life and lets not rude here people

In this Mancession with most fathers out of work, there being seven men for every job, and anyone out of work for more then 30 days are told not to both applying, do you think all of the millions of unemployed fathers are lowlifes? Perhaps you should not have gotten pregnant in a recession when men are 4X more likely to be laid off then women.

The Southern Research Council has filed an appeal with the US Supreme Court to stop the states from jailing indigent fathers owing child support as it is a waste of tax payer money, and is only useful to gatekeeper mothers trying to cut him off from his child.

Unless he works under the table for the rest of his life, does not file any kind of taxes and is not concerned about losing his drivers license... the system will sooner or later find a way to garnish money that he is either earning or expecting from a tax refund.

You can get assistance from the State in lieu of child support owed to you and turn the right to the child support over to the State. They pay you support and pursue him for reimbursement.

They will keep searching for employers to garnish his wages. They will look for any tax refunds, even combined with a married spouse of his, and will take all of that money at the IRS level and...

if he does not make any effort to make a payment.... he will lose his drivers license.

And yes, in some states you can go to jail for not making any effort to pay child support.
