What happens when you hit the copy to card button on a samsung S860 digital camara?!?

I have a samsung S860 and I was playing around with the settings and hit the copy to card button and then realized now it says I have no pictures!!! I had very important pictures on there, pictures that I could never get back, actually made me sick to my stomach that I lost them...I have no idea what happened...I also hit a format button?!? Don't know if that's what did it I don't know. Please help...I have pictures of my 1st day with my baby girl and need to know if they are retrievable...thanks
