My initial 2 year contract with BEV ends later this month. I rent a 5900 PVR and 3 x 4100 receivers.

Can anyone tell me what my options will be at the end?

Do you know if Bell offers a Dual SD PVR to rent or buy?

They don't offer a SD dual tuner pvr unfortunately...
They used to, the 5200, but dropped it
You can search for them online, used, but make sure to get serial #'s from the seller, to confirm with Bell that there is no balance on the account
You could get a 9200, it is a HD dual tuner PVR, but is dropping in price because of the new HD dual tuner PRV (9242)
If you are ending your contract, you can try bouncing to the cable company, to see if they will give you a sweet deal, or tell Bell you are canceling and see what type of Retention deal they offer you (They may not offer anything though...)
If you can find a used or even new 9200 for around $300, I would grab it, as that was the price for the 5200 when it was available new

At the end of the contract, the service and rental terms carry on as before. If you had a price guarantee, the cost of service will most likely go up. You no longer have any contractual obligations so you can cancel with 30 days notice. You can also switch or return rented receivers with no penalty. New receiver rentals may have a contract associated with them though.

Some deals are coming up on the 9242 as well. It is better with SDTVs since it has SD outputs for both tuners. That will allow you to drop the rental of the 5900 and one or more 4100s. An HD PVR is a better long term buy since HD is standard for most new TVs.

I am in a similar situation. I currently rent 6100 receiver from Bell on a two year contract which is up next week. The promotion at the time was that I received $10 credit each month for the receiver. Price protection was in place as well for basic package.
I called three weeks ago and told them that I would like to return the receiver (I was planning to buy an use done). They offered to extend the current $10 monthly credit for another year and I agreed. However, my price will go up $4 per month as the price of the basic package has gone up.
I still have to see my next bill in order to make sure that they will actually apply the credit.

I left out of my original post that I have an HDTV and am considering upgrading to the HDPVR. Does anyone know what options they might offer me and for how long a commitment? We also have Bell Sympatico and Home phobe service, do you think I can save on a HD upgrade if I bundle?

Call the local cable co, and ask what special they can offer you
Then call Bell, and tell them you are thinking of canceling, you have bought a new HDTV, and your local cable co is offering you ____________
Ask if they can match it, if not, say you are thinking of cancelling
Leave it at that, and then at least you will know what options you have
I have heard some great retention offers, but I think it depends on who you get on the phone
Good luck
Go for the 9242 if you can, you will love it....
